ABOUT ME | PORTFOLIO

Peeter Laurits is an Estonian photo-based artist who has enriched the instruments of photographic expression, and broadened the role of the photographic art. The geographic spectrum of Peeter Laurits’ exhibitions is wide. His works can be found in many private- and museum collections around the world.

BIOGRAPHY

In the eighties I experimented with black and white darkroom techniques. After New York studies my work became more conceptual. I addressed media critical issues in grotesquely theatrical manner, studied surreal and dadaist means of expression. In 1997 I moved to live for 12 years in south-Estonian woods. There, on the crossroads of nature and culture, mythological and philosophical issues started to dominate in my work.

ART EDUCATION

I studied at Estonian Institute of Humanities, Tartu and St Peterburg State Universities and New York International Center of Photography
